This year, the enchanting glass art of Barbara Nanning is on display for the first time at Fraeylemaborg Estate. From her studio in Amsterdam, she creates large installations, glass and ceramics. The selection of glass objects in this solo exhibition shows the enormous variety of her work. No wonder. For her objects are always a snapshot, an attempt by the artist to capture movement, color and light.
Primal form
She herself says, “I always work from the circle, a primal form. In the center of the circle is a moment of rest. From the resting point comes movement and that’s what I do; capture the essence of movement and growth in my work.’
In 2023, Nanning was voted Artist of the Year. Her work has been included in more than 70 international museums. This is her first exhibition in Groningen.
