When you visit Fraeylemaborg Estate and walk up the stately driveway, you will see the striking, white-plastered borg through the trees.

The Fraeylemaborg has been a home for centuries for families who each left their mark on the estate: Fraeylema, Rengers, Piccardt, De Sandra Veldtman, Hora Siccama and Thomassen à Thuessink van der Hoop van Slochteren.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the borg becoming a museum. The interior is presentend as a stately home in the 20th century . The rooms give an impressionof everyday life, both for the family and the staff. After entering the imposing hall, visitors can tour the borg independently.

Barok tuin Fraeylemaborg

Stately home

Fraeylemaborg is the heart of a 23-hectare estate. On the front lawn is the former farmhouse that housed a small cattle farm and carpentry shop. It is now Grand café De Boerderij. Opposite is the former Coach House, now the museum store and exhibition space. Behind the Coach House, the Orangery is still used to winter orange trees. There is also an apple orchard with historic varieties.
