There are a lot of possibilites for schools at Fraeylemaborg Estate. We have various activities, which are adapted to the level of the target group. Schools can choose a certain theme, for example knights and castles, art or nature. Special tours for children are available for temporary exhibitions.

Programmes
Poor and Rich. Living and working at Fraeylemaborg
For primary school groups 3 and 4
How did rich children live in a borg around 1880? And how did poor children live? During a preparatory visit in class, pupils meet Klaas, son of the Fraeylemaborg’s gardener, and Anna, who lives in the borg. Through the story and by showing pictures and old objects, the pupils get an idea of life on the estate. Their knowledge is developed further during the visit to Fraeylemaborg, where children do assignments in groups.
Duration: preparatory visit in class 30 minutes, visit Fraeylemaborg 2 hours
Price: €4.50 per pupil
This programme is included in K&C’s Cultural Mobility project, but can be booked directly with the Fraeylemaborg.

For primary school groups 1 and 2.
Connects to the ‘knights and castles’ theme
The damsel would like to throw a party at the Fraeylemaborg but has lost everything. Maybe the children can help her? The children go through the borg and complete all kinds of tasks. This gives them a good understanding of the different rooms and their functions in the Fraeylemaborg. They also learn more about castles, knights and damsels.
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
Price: €4.50 per pupil

Preschool tour
For primary school groups 1 and 2
The children may dress up as knights or princesses. We have a well-stocked dressing-up box! In a simple way, we talk about the castle and explore the house together with the children.
Duration: maximum 45 minutes

Scavenger hunt through the Fraeylemaborg
For groups 5 to 8 primary school and first-year secondary school classes
After a short introduction about the history of Fraeylemaborg, the children go on a treasure hunt through the borg in groups. They enter all the rooms and get a good understanding of how people used to live here. What’s different from today?
Duration: 60 minutes

Sprokkeltocht
For groups 5-8 primary school (younger children under supervision)
With a map, a questionnaire and binoculars, pupils explore the park. They look for hidden boxes . Each box contains a question or assignment. While playing, the children learn about nature and the use of the park behind the Fraeylemaborg.
Duration: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Price: € 2.00 per pupil
