The Photo Assignment: Slochteren

Five residents of Slochteren work with photographers to create a portrait of their village, their lives and their view of the future. The residents determined what should be portrayed, the photographers of Noorderlicht determined how and in what form.

In this exhibition we see the result of this collaboration. These are personal stories but touch on an important question that lies behind these visual narratives: how can Groningen change and still remain itself?

The Photo Assignment is on view at Fraeylemaborg Estate, part of Slochteren for seven centuries. Where the borg focuses on the experiences and expectations of the past, this exhibition presents a picture of Slochteren today, and the possibilities of the future.

The Photo Assignment is part of the Renewed Energy project, a program of Noorderlicht and BPD Cultuurfonds full of exhibitions, publications and public activities by Noorderlicht and BPD Cultuurfonds in collaboration with various partners.
